Surprise surprise! Mark Nagata BROUGHT MORE THAN HE IS SUPPOSED TO and this is a good thing! A slew of mini kaiju customs (Reminder! These are one offs!) that looks so much more delicious in hand, the custom Eyezon that a fellow kaiju collector is eyeing, the production piece of Captain Maxx, Dualos, Boy Karma and Argus and a few rogue suspects.

STGCC 2012: Triston Eaton// Dreamland Mickey Resin Sculpture

Finally had the opportunity to look at Triston Eaton's prototype of his Dreamland Mickey Resin Sculpture (based on an original commission for Everlast). Julie B of Pretty in Plastic sculpted and cast this pretty crazy piece. Hidden behind his back is a very inappropriately happy little snake awaiting it's next unsuspecting meal (check out bottom right photo of the collage below).

Limited to 20 pieces, the Arcimboldo-esque piece will be available for preorder at $1250SGD at STGCC 2012 Booth E15!

I did pass on the FIRST RUN OF HELL LOTUS, but that's only because I'm holding out for this, the STGCC exclusive, coming only in 25 pieces! Pricing shouldn't be too different from the preorder price of SGD$140 and I'm crossing my fingers that the convention colourway will take my breath away.There's a limited art print (signed!) to go along but yea, I'm just dying to see the colours on this!

I'm more excited about meeting Touma than the 10th Anniversary Knuckle Bear he's bringing in :P Only 10 pieces of the 7" angry bear are available at Booth B18. Also available is the Pico Mao Cat, which is so exclusive that there is only one piece of each version. I'm sure to grab quite a few of the Mao Cats and hopefully get the man to draw on them :P

tokidoki has been with STGCC since its inception (*on cue Hans Zimmer's MIND HEIST) but Simone Legno seems to be so quiet this year. There's no SINGPOST COLLABORATION and according to the PRODUCTS PAGE, Booth F14 is tokidoki bag distributor. Pfft. Betting my last dollar that we'll see one of these SDCC exclusives. Silver Truffle for me but a big no to Porcino, muddy, silver or otherwise. :P

STGCC 2012: Gunning for these Max Toy Exclusives and Customs

Mine! Mine! Mine!

And the shopping list expands!! How crazy is this year's STGCC offerings?! The initial offering on the WEBBIE only listed Dualos (7 pieces/ SGD$125), Argus (10 pieces/ $40) and Boy Karma (10 pieces/ $40) and truth be told, I was begrudgingly ready to settle on the golden Boy Karma. Where are the kitties!? Then the kaiju master releases these images!

It was a very masochistic moment, when I realised how much I would be donating to Max's trust funds. I've narrowed my picks to the STGCC exclusive Golden King Negora, which I'm very tempted to label as Kaiju Maneki-neko, and the custom Drazorus and Eyezon. I am trying so hard not to look at the other King Negora, which is the perfect companion for the upcoming massive KAIJU ZANGA (PREORDERED!!).

If you want my opinion, I would say of all the mini customs, the Galaxy Eyezon (the one with the entire starmap painstakingly handpainted on black vinyl) is one of the most drool-worthy. Check out the other Galaxy customs HERE and HERE to see the magnificent details. The only reason I am not gunning for it? I already have one :P

Also, do check out these CLOSE UPS if you're not convinced, other than the sheer fact the customs are one offs, of the awesomeness of Mark Nagata's brilliant play with colours.

One thing for certain, these Baby Treesons won't last long! For a moment, I thought we'll be getting the 5" SDCC EXCLUSIVES (not that it is neccsarily a bad thing...) but having our own is SO MUCH BETTER! In the same lime green and pastel pink colourway, the Ozzo Exclusive (Booth E34) is 3" of flocked cuteness. Bagged and tagged for SGD$20 each!

Featuring green, red, white and silver sprays on orange vinyl, the funky lizards are as limited as ANDY'S EXCLUSIVES.

STGCC 2012: The true meaning of exclusives at Booth F51

I've been ranting about exclusives and STGCC for a LONG LONG time and this year, for once, I think things are beginning to look right. Andy of Toysrevil certain is a man after my heart with his exclusive offerings at Booth F51. Exclusives, folks, means only the determined, dedicated and desperate have the privilege of reveling in swag-euphoria.

The ones I am eyeing are none other than Paul Shih's Bevil and Kaiju Sushi, both limited to 4 pieces. Bevil will be available the moment STGCC 2012 swings open its doors but Kaiju Sushi, this yummy devil is only available at designated times (TBA by Andy!). You can't really see the tentacle arms on it but Kaiju Sushi certainly understands flavour with its geta fashion.

The humble offering from Ume

Equally limited are Mark Nagta's Xam and Tripus and Ume Toy's Dees Dees. The Mini Kaiju from Max Toy are dry-rub editions but I'm holding out for one offs from Mark's booth :P The cupcakes are worth considering but there isn't one that comes with rainbow rice :P

The 5 pieces tier are Argonaut Resin's TUTTZ and Kings of Atlantis Mini Skulls, Jelly Empire's Jellybots and Pierre Rouzier's adorable dragon Vapor Noddlers.

For a non-mecha fan, I've been curiously drawn by Danbo, the one that started it all, and then all the robot mini-figs from Lego. High chance that Jellybots will find a home on my shelf :)

Trying not to look suspicious

What is curiouser (hahah I just had to use the word!), listed on STGCC's exclusives page are two different Jellybot offerings - a standalone edition and a paired edition (mini TUTTZ and Jellybot). I'm trying hard to ignore Vapor Noddler but my will is weak:(

The last tier consists of Peter Kato's Turtle Tetsujin, Daniel Yu's Splicer Red Crawdad Kid and QUICCS' custom Yoka Bulletpunk: Yokazuna.

This is the first exclusive I'm covering and I cannot be happier than to present Mashi's first toy figure. Mashi's signature pinup style translated perfectly into resin curves that can knock a man off his feet. Seems like the honey jar is a removable accessory on this 5" figure. Mashi has to say "I would say maybe it's inspired by Japanese illustrations and pinup art. As in Japanese illustration, we see sometimes a girl character will dress up as an animal or be something cute so maybe I was inspired by those. Pinup art is because of the pose and sexiness and the "Oops!" expression."

The Toy People at STGCC 2012

I guess the explosion in the list of toy folks coming to town in just 3 weeks should shut the trap of all detractors. Other than the PREVIOUSLY ANNOUNCED Simone Legno, Mark Nagata, Tristan Eaton and the Beast Brothers, coarse, Martin Hsu, HuskyKevin, Devilrobots, Gabby and even a team from Hot Toys will be at the event. I'll keep you wondering what Wendy Chew aka Mashi is doing up on the list ;) Now these are just the guests of STGCC, which means there are more toys from exhibitors and folks from the Artist Alley :)

Sametan the politicking picketing peaceful shark must have been endearing itself tremendously to the Chinese Government. Huge step I say for them to TAKE SHARK'S FIN OFF THE MENU; now to raise the awareness of their suffering friend, the geese. Hopefully, Cometdebris will conceptualise a simiarly huggable toy.

But back to the toys in the image above. To be shown/sold at THE GREAT WEST COAST MIGRATION, a shark saving art tour, the Blood in the Water show exclusive, just a small number of them, has made it to the WEBSTORE, as with a trio of customs (called Bloody, Pissed and Edge) painted by Koji himself. $40 for the clear red vinyl and $150 for the customs. SDCC 2012 Spotlight// Jeremiah Ketner at Dragatomi

So like most other folks who didn't manage to get their asses to the con of all cons (again), I've resigned myself to a fate plastered with jealous and bitter rantings. Good pal REDDOTDIVA is there but ain't offering her biceps for muling service. Bah! Dragatomi has tons of custom offerings this year and though a certain Jason Limon caught my eye, I decided to go with whimsical cause it's a Wednesday :P

Jeremiah Ketner has gone all Zen-like with names like Golden, Lotus, Icy, Ivy blahblahblah. The only one with two words is Night Melody - that's the Trikky on the last row, beside Siren the Raffy.

Which ones do I like personally? LOTUS and SIREN, with pretty affordable $350 and $250 tags. Having faces peeking out of bodies kinda freaks me out :P

~~But if you want a conversation piece, go with HERCYNIA; if its darker aesthetics doesn't set tongues wagging, just send them into a coma with the $1700 tag.~~ Can I say major opps? :P Lunabee delicately pointed out my booboo. Thanks Sarah! :) HERCYNIA is indeed not by Jeremiah Ketner. It's by 64 Colors. It's still 18" and $1700 though. SDCC 2012 Wooper Looper Cavey is a must have!

Holly Stanway wouldn't be at SDCC this year but the WOOPER LOOPER CAVEY more than makes up for her absence. Did I just say that? :P The collaboration with Gary Ham's WOOPER LOOPER is just magic. I'm definitely loving the cherry blossom-like gill stalks :) 10 will be available at Gary Ham's Booth #4836 and the remaining 20 will be available at the WEBSTORE 16th Jul 8pm London Time. It's always a pleasure to see J*RYU at work, and having seen his SCULPTING PROCESS last year, I have a very good idea of the transformation of 2 Tone Dunnys into Singapore Sultans. This is the first and biggest set of customs he had done and this is another first (among the many that our nation loves to claim) for our little dot of an island. The Singapore Sultan, a run of 20, carries a sceptre with Fleur-de-lys and crowning details. Inserted are 3 chase. Scroll down for the picture!
