Holy plushes, Batman!
My love affair with Kikeimono started with nosing around for more STGCC exclusives in July and I saw plushes that I really like. These MUNCHY MONSTERS have the right kind of aesthetics that aren't overtly girly, and there ain't no frills and laces so guys can carry them around without compromising their masculinity.
If you guys remember my SECRET PROJECT, you're looking at it! A special limited run of my lizard mascot which birthed the first and failed giveaway contest on this blog. What can I say? Most of my readers are from everywhere else but here. I have to follow Shane and start an appreciation event to raise kaiju awareness! Interesting trivia: in the midst of production, the lizard became a dragon. This, my friends, is the first of the Dragon Munchy line.
Being a comic con as well, I requested Gladys to do a one-off commission of a Batman custom, which invited a lot of offers throughout STGCC. Is it for sale? How much is it? Sorry folks, that sexy beast is reserved for a very special individual. Check out the revealing thong Batman is wearing! Gladys came close to upstaging the nippled costume in Batman and Robin, one of the campiest movie ever, but the movie wins handsdown with their perfect codpiece. Say what? The Captain America Munchy? That SOLD OUT an hour after the doors opened! At this juncture, Gladys regretted not doing more of the fab comic crossovers! Imagine, Green Lantern Munchy, Thor Munchy, Iron Man Munchy...
Another interesting trivia: I lingered around the Marvel booth with Cap A, hoping to get C.B Cebulski or Peter Tatara to gush over the most chibi reinterpretation ever, staying an inordinate amount of time, pacing back and forth. When Peter finally noticed it (I waved it in his face), he simply nodded his head. What is that?! You'll regret it Marvel!! :P
Here is Dragon Munchy squeezing out the rest of my plush collection
At the end of the convention, I decided to give out the Baby Dragon Munchy to choice candidates. Rachel from Reeds gets pink, good bud Darren from DOOODOLLS gets green (see the shameless plug in for Gween!) and that TOKIDOKI GIRL gets yellow. Super comic-geek W brings Batman home and even the staff from Rapid Culture (Bushiroad people) bought one! Last picture on bottom right features Gladys and Alvan and some mysterious dude who did a photobomb of sorts. Alvan (husband!) is the illustrator of everything plastered on the walls. Great guy with a very cool sense of humour. Bet you can't tell he's working in an engineering firm now :P Don't forget, if you want a customised Munchy, all you have to do is to drop her an email HERE!
The very special individual who gets to hug Batman to sleep :)
